The Windjammer Restaurant

The Creative Brief

This spot for the Windjammer was all about capturing what makes it such a local favorite: the warm, welcoming atmosphere, the buzz of good energy, and of course, the wide variety of delicious food. From the wine bar to the friendly patrons who fill it, the Windjammer is the kind of place where family dinners and nights out with friends just feel right. Great food, great service, and a comforting vibe that keeps you coming back.

This was a two-day shoot with multiple deliverables to capture.

Day One focused on Front of House, with an emphasis on the new Wine Bar and its temperature-controlled, pressurized Cruvinet system - a feature that allows premium wines to be served by the glass. Because this element was central to the story, we highlighted it visually within the first few shots. With only half a day of access to our talent (bartender and patrons), We built a priority shot list to ensure we captured the essentials. The approach leaned toward tighter compositions, since going wider would have required additional lighting time we didn’t have.

Day Two shifted to Back of House. We killed the overhead fluorescents and bounced an Aputure 1200d into the ceiling, establishing a soft, directional base. For a more pronounced key, Michael hand-held an Amaran Light Mat at a 90° angle off-camera. For backlight, he worked a 4ft Nanlite PavoTube just out of frame, adding depth and separation to the space.
